Willie Nelson’s Nashville home is up for sale for $2.5 million, and pictures show a splendid country retreat that’s a piece of real country music history.
Nelson’s 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom hand-built log cabin, which the country music icon built for himself, is located on 150 acres of rural land in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, just a half-hour drive from Nashville.
Dubbed “The Hideaway,” the main residence revolves around a great room containing a living room and kitchen, as well as a loft sleeping space and a stone fireplace. Exposed beams and a raised roof give the cabin a spacious feel.
In 1970, when Nelson wasn’t inside, the cottage caught fire, sparking the famous story that the Country Music Hall of Famer rushed inside to rescue his beloved guitar, Trigger and a pound of marijuana. Nelson was also living on the property when the incident happened, and the song inspired his song “Shotgun Willie,” the title track of his 16th studio album in 1973.
The land surrounding the cottage provides a stunning slice of unspoilt Tennessee and ensures maximum quietness and privacy.
“3108 Greer Road is conveniently located just 30 minutes from downtown Nashville and is surrounded by nature, ridge views and tranquility,” Ross Welch of Zeitlin Sotheby’s International Realty told Fox Business.
“When you arrive, the property includes about 40 acres of ranch,” he shared. “A nearly mile-long driveway winds through another 110 acres of hardwood to a quaint cottage formerly owned by one of country music’s most well-known outlaws, Willie Nelson,” he added.
“Indeed, this is an exceptional property, close to major cities, immersed in the tranquility of nature, and a history unmatched in many places.”
According to the online real estate site, the asking price breaks down to $15,314 per month.
Welch and Matt Lawson hold Sotheby’s listings. The property has only two owners: Nelson and the person he sold it to.
