Tom Hardy, Zazie Beetz Set for Apple Series ‘Lazarus’ – Deadline

exclusive: We hear Oscar nominee Tom Hardy and Atlanta Primetime Emmy Nominee Zazie Beetz to Star in Apple TV+ Series Lazarus, a project that is still close to development and a deal. The project is a co-production of A+E Studios and Range Studios and has been sold to Apple.

Lazarus Adapted from the Joona Linna series of books by Lars Kepler (pseudonyms of Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril), acclaimed by New York Times, Washington Post and electronic warfare, It sold more than 17 million copies worldwide.

In the series, an emaciated young man is spotted wandering the tracks. Thirteen years ago, he and his sister disappeared, presumed victims of the notorious serial killer Ulrich Walter. To find his sister, Detective Sagarball must go undercover in the high-security mental institution where Ulrich Walter has been held since his arrest years ago. Hardy will play Jurek Walter and Beetz will play Inspector Saga Bauer, which I hear is sort of a Hannibal Lector-Clarice Stalling type of role.

Øystein Karlsen will write, executive produce and direct the series.

Produced by Hardy Son & Baker, formed by Hardy and longtime production partner Dean Baker, their production company behind the FX series taboo. The EP also includes Beetz & David Rysdahl, Kepler (Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril), Niclas Salomonsson, A+E Studios (Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson) and Range Studios (Heather Kadin, Peter Micelli and Jack Whigham).

Hardy nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscar revenant hunter. His featured credits include Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Locke, Mad Max Fury Road, Nearly $1.4 billion in box office receipts venom Franchise, Capone among many others.He also starred in and executive produced the FX series taboo. he also has a story and producer credit Venom: Carnage.

Beetz was nominated for a Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy in 2018 for her role in the FX series Atlanta as donald glover’s off and on girlfriend. her feature credits include Bullet Train, Joker, Nine Days, Prison Break, Deadpool 2, Seberg, etc.

She will appear in the upcoming crime drama miniseries “Full Circle.” The series will stream on HBO Max this year. She is currently producing the upcoming comedy series A History of the World: Part II, which is produced by Mel Brooks and written by David Statham. Beetz is also the EP for the series, which hits Hulu on March 6.
