It’s more thriller than horror, with lots of tense moments. The infected don’t show up very often—Joel and Ellie face more human survivors than monsters—but when they do, they’re used to it to great effect.
Do I need to have played the game?
No, the show retold the events of the first game (launched in 2013) and expanded on some storylines and background elements.However, the last survivors and its 2020 sequel is one of the most addicting games of all time. If the show piques your interest, you should definitely dive in,
The original game is available on PS3, PS4, and PS5 (the PC version launches March 3), while the second is currently only available on PS4.
