Migos: Takeoff’s last Instagram Story before fatal shooting
Takeoff, a member of the rap trio Migos, was shot and killed Tuesday (Nov. 1) in Houston, Texas.
Rapper – full name Kirshnik Khari Ball – 28 years old.
At 2:34 a.m. local time (7:34 a.m. GMT), police were called to reports of a shooting outside the 810 pool and bowling alley in downtown Houston, where a private gathering of about 40 people was taking place held.
Takeoff and his Migos bandmate Quavo were in attendance. Quavo – real name Quavious Keyate Marshall – was not injured in the brawl. The third Migos member, Offset, did not appear.
There was reportedly an altercation after the dice were rolled, and shots were fired. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene.
Industry players and fans mourned his passing, with tributes to the late rapper flooding social media.
Celebrities including James Corden, Drake, SZA, Outkast and Khloé Kardashian shared posts honoring the rapper.
No suspects have been arrested so far, and Houston Police Chief Troy Fenner called on witnesses to “step up” information about the shooting.
Police and fans of the rapper have urged others to delete images and videos of the incident circulating online.
Metro Boomin salutes takeoff
Metro Boomin, who produced Migos’ hit “Bad and Boujee,” took to Twitter to express its sadness over Takeoff’s passing.
“I can’t even put into words how bright and warm his true soul was,” read part of his heartfelt tribute.

The coroner’s report confirmed the takeoff was shot multiple times.
The Harris County Medical Examiner confirmed his cause of death was a “penetrating gunshot wound” and ruled his death a “homicide.”

After recently restoring his Twitter account, Kanye West followed up on his return, posting a photo to commemorate the takeoff.
Next to him is a photo of him with the Migos rap trio, in his earlier version Donda 2 On the album, West wrote, “Forever Love”, followed by a follow-up photo of Takeoff, Offset and Quavo, titled: “Family.”

New mural to commemorate takeoff has been painted in Atlanta
An underpass in Atlanta, Georgia is now home to the Takeoff mural.
Takeoff is a native of the Atlanta suburb of Lawrenceville, alongside fellow Migos star Offset.
This mural is located under the John Lewis Liberty Avenue Bridge near Fourth District Park.

Los Angeles Lakers basketball honors take off
The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team is one of the latest teams to receive takeoff honors.
In preparation for last night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Lakers reporter Mike Trudell tweeted, “All the Migos music for the Lakers tonight to warm up in honor of takeoff.”
The Lakers are also on the team with former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
