Motorola showed no sign of the race to beat others to the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in a new Android flagship smartphone (as it did with the previous generation), even after the postponement of several similar events.
Instead, the OEM has taken the more unexpected route of choosing its top competitor as the “SUV” of smartphones, probably indicating that the upcoming Moto X40 will be powerful and versatile enough to take on the most active lifestyle out of the box.
To that end, Motorola has confirmed that its 4,600mAh battery will drop the 68W wired charging technology of its predecessor Edge X30 for the upgraded 125W profile of the X30 Pro (or Edge 30 Ultra for the international market)
The OEM kept with its new theme by also pre-announcing Horizon Lock for the X40. The usual feature on this action-cam-sounding is rated to allow the user to take photos in portrait mode regardless of the angle at which the smartphone is held.
Motorola has not yet detailed the rear cameras to support this feature, however. These specifications are for the Chinese version of the flagship which is to be launched in about 3 days from now (December 12, 2022), although there is a good chance that they will also be available in its global counterpart, which is supposed to be launched as the Edge 40 Pro in 2023.

I was a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; However, this led to some experience in the field of biotechnology, which convinced me that it could revolutionize our health, our environment and our lives in general. This evolved into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of technology over time: I can’t write enough about the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming of all things. Oh, and coffee.
