Most evacuation orders lifted, neighborhoods recovering from flooding

IT’S THE FOCUS ON DOING A LOT OF THAT RIGHT NOW, INCLUDING FELTON GROVE, WHERE THIS TREE CUT DOWN NEAR THE COVERED BRIDGE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. TODAY WE SAW A LOT OF LANDSLIDES, A LOT OF TREASURE ROADS AND CROSSED TREES AND A LOT OF FLOODING. SEVERAL EVACUATION ORDERS ARE IN PLACE IN THE COUNTY. FLOODING OF THE SAN LORENZO RIVER IN FELTON DROPPED COUNTY PEDALERS HAD TO COME TO JET STREET, jet skis, to rescue stranded homeowners. MEANWHILE, PARADISE PARK ALONG Hwy 9, LOTS OF FLOODING. THIS AREA IS UNDER AN EVACUATION ORDER. A GROUND GUARD PATROLED THE STORAGE AREA. FORTUNATELY, THERE ARE NO DEATH OR INJURIES REPORTED AT THIS TIME. IN THE COUNTY, THESE FLOODS TAKE THEM BY SURPRISE. >> I WAS SURPRISED AT THE SPEED WHEN THE RIVERS MOVE. WE DIDN’T EXPECT AN EVACUATION ORDER TO BE ISSUED THIS EARLY. REPORTER: DAMAGE IS EXTENSIVE SO FAR ACROSS THE DISTRICT. THIS IS THE CORRALITO STRAPS NEAR THE VIA DEL SOL BRIDGE WHICH FELL EARLY THIS MORNING, VISITING 60 HOMEOWNERS UNTIL CREWS COULD CLEAR THE DEBRUSH FROM ANOTHER BRIDGE. THE COUNTY ESTIMATES AT LEAST $27 MILLION LOSSES IN THE DISTRICT SO FAR, AND EXPECTS MORE, WHICH COULD INCREASE. THE COUNTY SPOKESMAN TELLS ME THE COUNTY SUPERVISORS ARE EXPECTED TO RATIFY THE EMERGENCY DECLARATION TOMORROW. THIS COMES ALONG WITH PRESIDENT BIDEN’S APPROVAL OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN CALIFORNIA DUE TO THE STORM. IT ALLOWS MORE RESOURCES AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO BE INVOLVED WHEN NEGOTIATING COORDINATION
