A502. WE ARE FOLLOWING THESE BREAKING NEWS TONIGHT. NEW ORLEANS POLICE ARE ON THE SCENE INVESTIGATING A MASS SHOOTING THAT HAPPENED JUST HOURS AFTER THE END OF THE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION. WE’RE TOLD SIX PEOPLE WERE SHOT THROUGHOUT THIS MORNING AND IT’S AFFECTING SOME VERY YOUNG LIVES. TRAGICALLY WE FIND OUT THAT SEVERAL MINORS ARE INVOLVED HERE. SO GOING STRAIGHT TO DCEU DEJA BROWN. SHE’S JOINING US LIVE AT LIVE SPOTS. DJ, GOOD MORNING. WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR. CHAD, GOOD MORNING. WE ARE NOW AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH JOHNSON AND ST MARY’S AVENUES. IT’S IN THE LOWER NINTH SECTION. AND NOPD OFFICIALS ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THAT FATAL SHOOTING YOU MENTIONED. UP TO SIX VICTIMS. AND IT’S STILL VERY ACTIVE HERE. TELL US WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR. CALL CAME JUST AFTER 1230 THIS MORNING SIX VICTIMS TOTAL, TWO PEOPLE DEAD AT THE SCENE. SO FAR WE KNOW IT WAS ONE MALE, ONE FEMALE, BOTH 19 YEARS OLD. FOUR VICTIMS WERE HOSPITALIZED WITH INJURIES. NOW TWO OF THOSE VICTIMS, 17 AND 18 YEARS OLD, THEY WERE TWO WOMEN, WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL IN A PRIVATE VEHICLE. EMS WAS ON THE SCENE AND TRANSPORTED TWO MEN TO THE HOSPITAL. BOTH OF THESE MEN ARE 18 YEARS OLD. NOW I HAVE TALKED TO A RESIDENT WHO IS IN THE AREA. SHE JUST PASSED A FEW MINUTES AGO. SHE SAYS SINCE THAT BLUE HOUSE YOU CAN SEE THERE GOT UP. THEY HAVE SEEN A LOT OF ACTION IN THE AREA, A FEW SHOOTINGS AND A LOT OF NOT SO GOOD ACTION. SO SHE SAYS SHE JUST WANTS TO SEE SOMETHING DONE. BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOW WE KNOW OF SIX VICTIMS AND TWO ARE DEAD. New Orleans police are investigating a mass shooting in the Lower Ninth Ward at St. Maurice Avenue. They say two people were killed and four others were injured around 12:30 a.m. Monday. That investigation unfolded the day after Christmas when families gathered for events. Members of the New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating the shooting deaths of a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. A 17-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman and two 18-year-old men were also injured in the shooting. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and perform autopsies to determine the exact cause of death.
