Two weeks after four University of Idaho students were found murdered in their off-campus home, Moscow police said no suspects have been identified.

Police said in a Facebook post: “No suspects have been identified at this time and only verified information that does not interfere with the investigation will be released to the public.”

Authorities had previously said the public would have to “trust” that the killings of Xan Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were targeted, as no further details of the motive would be revealed.

The police added that the speculation was creating fear in the community.

Authorities said calls to report unusual circumstances and requests to check on loved ones have increased.

Parents ask to stop spreading rumours

Relatives of University of Idaho students Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kayleigh Goncalves and Madison Mogen have tried to overcome their grief amid rumors of the circumstances surrounding the murders.

Police have made similar pleas, repeatedly updating their social media posts to address specific circulating inaccuracies.

They shot down reports that the skinning of a nearby pet dog was connected to the murders; then they said the report of a man waiting for a woman in a car was “unfounded”.

“MKXE – love you always and forever”

As tributes continue to pour in for Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kayleigh Goncalves and Madison Mogen more than ten days after they were stabbed to death, their roommate has chosen to capture their legacy on her own skin.

Mogen and the woman were both members of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Her VSCO profile also featured recently posted images of herself with victims, each captioned with tributes.

“Maddie Kayleigh Xana Ethan – MKXE – love you always and forever,” she captioned a picture of the tattoo, which also features another person with the same art — it’s unclear if it’s the second surviving roommate.
