Dylan Gunther, the new Canadian champion
Team Canada has won back-to-back golds, both in overtime. Second game Gunter 3-2.
The Czechs surrounded their goalkeeper Tomas Sushank with the defeat.

Czech championship will be a good story
For all the talk in hockey about the Big Five and the decline of the Slovaks and Czechs over the last two decades, both produced strong 2003-2005 age groups — long after the Germans’ renaissance in their two age groups. .

We are going to overtime
Another great game in a really great tournament.
After a 15-minute break, we go to 20 minutes of overtime, 3 by 3 continuously.
What a finish in Halifax.

The most competitive teenagers in the world I have covered
This has been the most competitive world junior I’ve covered from start to finish.
From opening day on Boxing Day to the gold medal game. Intense game after intense game. Seven of the 10 teams won the games. All without the participation of Russia.
A great sign for the future of this sport.

All even in 2
Oops. It happens very fast in this tournament. Tie game as well. Jacob Kos (Leopard).
2-2.

The check enters the board
Jiri Kulic (Sabres) has been the best Czech forward in this tournament and is now making it interesting.
Edward Seale (2023) continues his strong performance in the medal round after a tough performance in the group stage. 2-1.
They returned with seven minutes left.

A message from Shane Wright

I don’t remember a better flower
I’ve watched every goal Shane Wright has scored since he became an OHL player, and I can’t recall a more beautiful or high-leverage goal he scored in the World Junior Gold Medal Game.

The check appears to be stuck
The Czech attack seems to be a bit restrained. Their one-man plays through Kulic and Djiricek, or the seam passes with Suzil and Spaicek that have worked all tournament, won’t work tonight.

Tyson Hinds is the leader in time on ice
The player leading Canada in ice time through two is none other than Tyson Hinds. Anaheim’s big draft has been very good defensively.

Canada leads 2-0 at halftime
2-0 after two periods. Shots 22-16 for Canada.
Both goalkeepers, one of whom is sure to win the goalkeeper of the tournament, have played well. A period between Canada and back-to-back world junior gold.

Connor Bedard is getting frustrated
It’s the longest he’s been out of the net in a game, and the Czechs have been pouncing on him as he dodges referees’ calls.
He barked at the referees several times and asked for help.

Wright Line has the right to ship
In a huge change from the rest of the tournament, Shane Wright’s line has clearly been Canada’s best line.

Happy birthday, Shane Wright
Shane Wright is rewarded with a World Junior Championship moment on his birthday. The Canadian captain has scored one of the goals of this tournament, dancing with a backhand and scoring under the bar.
2-0 Canada Second points of the night for Gunther and Osman (also on his birthday), but that was all Wright.
And the crowd singing happy birthday!

There is no target for Canada
Caedan Bankier (Wild) absolutely crushed Thomas Sushank. The ball went to him, but it won’t be a goal for Canada and Sushank is injured.
The banker was flying.

Shane Wright turns early
This was one of the best courses I’ve seen from Seattle’s Shane Wright in the past two years.
He competes very hard and makes a lot of positive things happen on both ends of the ice. The only thing he can’t do is score goals.

Canada leads 1-0 after 20
1-0 Canada after 20. The shots were 10-6 in favor of Canada. The Czechs had their moments.
Really impressed with Canadian captain Shane Wright (Kraken) at first. He was around it. Made a few plays in the offensive zone, broke down a couple defensively, and seemed to keep getting possession and making plays.

Canada attacks first
Dylan Guenther (Coyotes), at the end of a long shift, scored another touchdown on a pass from Brand Clark (Kings). Canada is on the board.
Credit to Brennan Osman (Rangers) for drawing the penalty that started the power play.
Osman gets a secondary pass on the goal. A three-minute shift for him, give or take.
