We have reached the business end of the World Cup stage with groups A, B, C, D, and groups E, F on the docket for Thursday. So far, France, Australia, Portugal, England, Senegal, the United States, the Netherlands, Argentina, Poland, and Brazil have booked their way to the round of 16. Five more will join them at the bottom of each group. Qatar also joined South Africa as the only World Cup hosts to ever fail out of the group stage. Take a look at who could join them in the last 16 and what their path might be to get there.

Looking at tiebreakers, it’s a simple start with the team that has the most points advancing. If the two teams are level on points, then it will be the higher goal difference. If it still cannot be split, the next team that scored the most goals will be the side to advance. The rules will then be settled with a single head-to-head match between the two tied teams. So the total point in these matches is the goal difference in the head of the game and the goals scored. If they make it all the way, and it can’t be split, eventually it goes to the game system.

The fair play system will see the team with the fewest penalties early in the match. Therefore, the team loses a point per yellow card, three points for each red card caused by a second yellow card, four points for a straight red card, and if a yellow is followed by a straight red card, it will count five points.
