New Delhi: Shobitam, a global D2C apparel brand specializing in Indian accessories has partnered with BITS, Pilani to launch ‘Shobitam Center for Women Entrepreneurship’ (SCWE)’, to empower women start-ups across the campus.
This is the first initiative of its kind in India that strongly aims to close the gender gap in business, one woman leader at a time. The center will create a strong foundation on the BITS campus for women to be inspired, supported and mentored to become successful global entrepreneurs. It will also conduct events and programs specifically designed for women and provide scholarships and grants to promising companies, access to industry experts and impact training. hands from different groups of people.
Raghu Sethuraman, alumni of BITS Pilani and his wife Aparna Thyagarajan, co-founder of Shobitam made a major donation of Rs 1 crore to set up the centre. The funds will also be used to award the annual Lalitha and Hema scholarships to talented women leaders from the centre.

Entrepreneurship is a mindset that allows the center to create an environment where women entrepreneurs can succeed with gender equality, build institutional capacity and develop tools with support services for women entrepreneurs,” said Raghu Sethuraman, chairman of the board of directors, Shobitam, a BITS alumnus. , class of 1992.
