4 injured after pickup truck crashes into Greg’s Bistro in Hampton NH

Four people were hospitalized in the Hamptons Saturday night after police say a drunken driver crashed into a restaurant. Hampton police said police and firefighters were dispatched to Greg’s Bistro on Lafayette Street around 9:15 p.m. Saturday for a report of a pickup truck. crashed into a building. “We were devastated. We still are,” said Terry Finn, a regular customer at Greg’s Bistro. “It feels like we’re going to wake up from a nightmare.” Hampton Fire said one person from the truck and three patrons from the restaurant were hospitalized. They did not comment on their conditions. . “There could have been many more people. On any other Saturday night, it would have been nearly full and devastating,” Finn said. Steven Davis, 24, of Newburyport, Mass., was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and reckless conduct, police said. . Davis was a passenger in the pickup truck. . Finn and her husband became close with the owners and other regulars at Greg’s Bistro after eating there several times a week for 14 years. She said it’s more than a pizza place. “It’s become our second home,” Finn said. . Finn said the community is stronger during times like this because of the relationships we’ve built over the years. “One of the bartenders’ sons had cancer — we raised a lot of money for them,” Finn said. “We’re there for each other at weddings and funerals. Sickness, health, that is like a marriage. Finn said other businesses near Greg’s Bistro have posted a donation jar. There will also be a GoFundMe and possibly a way to raise money for Greg’s Hampton Christmas u in the parade to help the restaurant recover. Davis was booked and later released on personal recognizance, police said. He is expected to be tried on December 22.
